RECRUITMENT

The Bellmawr Police protect an area covering 3.4 square miles of residential, and business districts, as well as a large industrial park.  We our responsible for the preservation of life, protection of property, and ensuring the safety of over 13,000 residents, workers, and visitors.  Officers handle over 12,000 calls for service a year, these calls cover everything from ambulance calls and noise complaints up to aggravated assaults and robberies.

If one meets the minimum requirements for police officer they will move onto the hiring process.  The minimum qualifications will be listed on the website shortly.

Upon passing the written, physical, psychological, medical, and background investigation the candidate may be asked to attend the police academy.  The academy is an intensive curriculum of academic, practical, and physical training.  The curriculum is outlined for the individual academies by the New Jersey Police Training Commission.

The salary, benefits, and hours of our officers are competitive, for the size of our agency.  Upon completion of a New Jersey PTC Certified Police Academy, new-hires will enter the Field Training Officer (FTO) program.  The time spent in the FTO program allows a veteran officer to introduce Bellmawr's policies and procedures to the rookie officer.  If the officer successfully completes the FTO program, which could last up to six months or more, he will be assigned to a platoon.

The Bellmawr Police Department is not currently hiring any police officers; however, we encourage you to check this page frequently.  In the very near future our new hiring practices will be outlined on this page.
