The Patrol Division handles all calls for service. This division is the first responder to all police, fire, and ambulance calls for service. Most officers in the patrol division are crossed trained, many serve as medical first responders, EMTs, and members of the Critical Incident Team, three are certified accident investigators, and several are instructors, either in DARE or at the police academy. Patrol officers respond to many types of incidents and never know what risks they may encounter on the next call.
The patrol officer is the one that you have the highest chance of meeting, should you need a police officer. Officers are uniformed and patrol the borough 24 hours a day. These professionals are the ones most likely to respond should you call the police, assist you if your car breaks down, and are also most likely the ones that will pull you over if you violate a law.
