MOBILE DATA COMPUTERS
The Bellmawr Police Department has been utilizing computers in their police cars since 1994. The computer in the car is a great tool to the law enforcement officer. The computers are able to obtain registration look ups, NCIC (National Crime Information Center computer) checks, driver's license checks, car to car and car to dispatch talk capabilities, and email, just to name a few. The officers are also able to fill out certain reports from the car, to maximize the patrol presence on the street. Currently, we have computers in 9 of the 10 patrol vehicles, plus one briefcase unit. Most are cellular wireless connections while some still remain radio linked.
