A Message from your Mayor…
Dear Residents and Friends:
As we bask in the success of the year past, I would be remiss in not taking this opportunity to thank and recognize all the Borough employees and community volunteers responsible for all of Bellmawr’s incredible accomplishments. On behalf of my colleagues on Council, we will continue to drive Bellmawr forward in providing our residents with the highest quality of life in our great Borough.
In 2016, we enjoyed another tremendous year filled with a number of impactful achievements. One such was recent with the Borough- wide replacement of street signs, a full year ahead of the mandated 2018 update. I think you’ll agree they look very sharp in “Bellmawr blue”, and go a long way in helping to beautify Bellmawr. We also saw the realization of a project that began a few years back with the updating of the Municipal Code Book, which is now online in the form of a searchable database. This initiative was started by the late Councilman Dave Duncan, and we were proud to see the fruits of his effort realized. Bellmawr, once again, was a leader in Shared Service programs, which helps in mitigating tax increases, to you, the residents.
For 2017, we look forward to the completion of several projects, providing great benefit to everyone throughout the Borough. One such project is the construction of the batting cages & indoor recreation facility on Essex Avenue, funded in full by the NJ-DOT. Another will be the renovation of the main entrance at Borough Hall, which includes an ADA compliant chair lift, helping our disabled and senior visitors. This project was paid for in large part with a Community Block Development Grant through Camden County. And finally, we will see more progress on the waterfront access project on Creek Road across from Larc School with the furnishing of a new basketball court, walking path extension, fresh landscaping, and more. This, too, will be completed with the assistance of grant money.
I would also like to acknowledge all the Bellmawr businesses, civic organizations, and volunteers, serving as the pillars of our community. Please support them by patronizing our Bellmawr Business Alliance members, and volunteer your time to the groups that provide so much more in return.
Please reference this calendar often for important Borough information, and make it a point to attend the many exciting community events we have planned in 2017. Also, be sure to check out the digital calendar on Bellmawr.com for real-time updates. Additional information highlighting news & events within the Borough can be found on the Borough’s Official FaceBook page (@BellmawrBorough) and on Twitter (@BellmawrBorough).
Finally, thank you for your continued support. It is my honor and privilege to serve as your Mayor, working alongside our Members of Council, ensuring Progress Never Stops in the Borough of Bellmawr.
Yours in service,
Frank R. Filipek
